Investors & Enablers

This is the original community that came together to create IDIA in 2015, and includes bilateral and multilateral agencies, private foundations and other organizations supporting and investing in innovation and scaling. They hold a shared commitment to advancing innovation for development outcomes, but bring with them a wide variety of approaches, financing instruments, networks, risk appetites and sectoral / geographic priorities.

Agencies join the Investors & Enablers community within IDIA for a range of reasons, which include:

• Community building - deepening and/or expanding their relationships and connections in the ecosystem

• Learning - gaining access to the insights, data and evidence that IDIA synthesizes, translates and/or distils into useful forms

• Amplifying - using the collective voice of the IDIA ecosystem to raise awareness of and/or stimulate change around a priority issue

• Leveraging - using IDIA to broker matched / co-funding partnerships to support collaborative investment

• Experimenting - contributing to targeted research, collaboration and co-creation with others across IDIA ecosystem communities

• Capacity building - providing their staff with access to IDIA networks, tools and training opportunities

Following submission of an initial Expression of Interest and subsequent approval of membership, each agency participates for a minimum of two years and provides an equitable contribution to support the costs of running the IDIA platform. This also confers certain benefits for them, such as a guaranteed place for a member of their staff on the highly competitive IDIA Training Courses that take place each year.
