Our Theory of Change

We believe that development impact is best achieved when innovative solutions are seeded and scaled in the context of stronger, more inclusive and efficient innovation ecosystems. The IDIA Ecosystem, our influencing approach and all of the collective action and learning it enables are therefore aligned to our overall Theory of Change. This lays out in a simple way the impact we are seeking, the outcomes that will contribute to this and the success metrics that we use to measure IDIA’s contribution.

We measure our progress against this framework using a range of indicators, insights and inputs, each of which are aligned with three core success metrics:

  • Unlocking political and financial capital among governments and institutions to enable greater investment and support for innovation and scaling

  • Enhancing technical knowledge and capacity to ensure that innovation and scaling processes become more effective, evidence-based and efficient

  • Driving equitable and efficient collaboration to demonstrate the benefits of working in partnership to advance innovation and scaling

These success metrics support IDIA ecosystem members to mobilize their collective voice, expertise, resources and networks to achieve their shared mission to translate innovation into impact.
