STEP 4: MODEL PROTOTYPING, TUNING, ASSESSMENT

Who creates the model?

Co-creating solutions rests on the assumption that models themselves must be created by a variety of stakeholders, especially the ones that are directly involved and have knowledge of the local context in which the model will be implemented. The involvement of local developers, local staff, universities students, and professors can help translate between technology and community. However, local capacities and contextual nuances must be taken into account and Al/ML development should involve capacity building at every stage. Choosing the right model and algorithms is also key as algorithms often present tradeoffs between speed, accuracy, and explainability, and some may propagate biases in data.
